Item : Stylish Brown Straw Hat with ORIG LABEL

Excellent Condition and Material

Description:
A GREAT doll hat--dates to the first third of the last century! Made from a shiny woven straw with looped edges. Features brown velvet ribbon around the crown. Inside is edged with wide brown grosgrain ribbon. Edge of brim is 7 layers of straw thick--to make a thick edge. AND.....it even has a LABEL!   Label reads: Livingston Bros San Francisco in script. It could have been a child's hat, but it has a very small head opening--I think it was a doll's hat made by a prestigious department store to look just like "mommy's" !

Measures about 10” long from edge to edge, brim is about 2” wide. Crown is 1.5" tall and the head opening is 4.5" across. It would fit a doll with a head circumference of about 10-13" (depending on the puffiness of the hair!)

Condition:
EXCELLENT condition, color is a yummy chocolate brown--it is a very stylish hat. Picture does NOT do it justice--we will add another one later on a doll so you can see how pretty it really is!

Item:19th Century Very Fancy French Hat for Bebe:WOW!

To Fit a Bebe doll: 24-26" Size

Description: This is one of the earliest larger straw hats we have found. Styling is very fancy and it features great decorations of braided and woven straw with sequins and glass beading added for sparkle. Fabric flowers on side of brim and underneath brim near the face. Additional flowers made of curled and sewn straw around the rear. Inside crown is lined with brown glazed cotton and a tie of black elastic which I think was added later. Wired around the edge of the brim for posing.

It must have been for a very upscale young lady! I would date it to about 1870-1880 and, from the detailing, was probably made in Paris for a Jumeau, Steiner or Bru-level doll.

Condition: Good condition considering its age. There are some small area of loss in the straw and a few sequins missing and a bit of shelf dust, but overall it is in very good condition.
