11.5" EARLY Kestner NEW!
                          ALL ORIGINAL--VERY early doll!

Never removed clothing in wonderful condition...

Description:
This is an exceptionally lovely example of an extremely early doll made by the premiere German doll maker, J.D.Kestner. His pale bisque and flat multistroke brows reveal the early manufacturing date. In addition, the 11.5" size with a B6 head is shorter than the later Kestner dolls with the same marking. (This is similar to the sizing of Kestner's early 143 models and was shorter than the later sizing pattern that Kestner adopted.) He dates to the turn of the last century!
He was probably a souvenir doll, but from where we don't know. Looks to be Swiss, but could also have been for the French Breton market.

And what a beautiful example--he has beautiful brown glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, well-done multistroke brows, very thick and clean blonde mohair wig, peaches and cream china painting and gorgeous quality bisque for such a small doll.
His antique clothing is perfectly fitted and HAS NEVER BEEN REMOVED!  IT IS STILL SEWN ON AS IT WAS WHEN HE WAS MADE. Consists of velvet britches with silk panels with gold metallic trim, flannel embroidered leggings, silk shirt with pintucks and the silk vest! The vest is made of a leathery material with silk embroidery, gold metallic trim, and silk ribbon edging. All pieces fit him perfectly--this is the way he looked when he came home from the store at the turn of the last century. Shoes are original leather ivory boots with grommets and heels--WOW!

Marks:
Head:   B Made in Germany 6
Body:   original pale straight wristed body, probably unmarked (have NOT removed the clothing since it is original)

Condition:
This is a premiere example of this mold in fabulous condition. You will be amazed at the quality of his bisque: true peaches and cream finish. True to his Kestner name, he has beautiful china painting and modeling to his head, even in such a small size.

And overall, this doll is in great condition. The wig is full and clean; the body is excellent, with little wear. His special clothing is nothing short of spectacular--clean and well-poreserved. (There are some smallwear spots/holes in the leggings, mostly in the back. The silk on his vest is fragile, even worn in a couple places.)

His outfit sets him off beautifully--his proud expression for his country of origin shines through and is enhanced by the beautifully preserved outfit. This doll is a PREMIERE example of a TRUE ALL ORIGINAL.

Place this little guy front and center and will stand out in your collection as one of the BEST!
